One of the animals/people in my portraits was my dog, Storm. He was born to be a greyhound racing legend but he fell short of expectations. We received him from an organization called G.R.A.C.E. He is one of our family members and I love him dearly. He did not like the camera in his face, nor did he like me telling him to do certain things on our walk which made him the most difficult subject to photograph. Oddly enough, I believe his portraits turned out the best and are my favorite
I took all of these photos outside during the day to take advantage of the natural lighting. I arranged my photos differently depending on the subject to see what worked best for them. The most challenging parts of this project were taking pictures of my mom because she hates pictures and getting the lighting just right to get her ‘good side’. With taking photos of my dog, I had to try to guide and try to command him to do what I want to have selective focus on him. With my mom not liking pictures, I had to think of ways to please her but also focus on showing skills of my understanding of informal balance and framing.
